Alabama’s Pinckney covers ground for Nationals in 4th Round
1 min readAlabama’s Andrew Pinckney was drafted in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals. Pinckney became the second of five SEC selections for the organization.
The 2023 SEC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year took his game to new heights at the plate this past season, posting career-highs in batting average (.339), home runs (18), slugging percentage (.648), on-base percentage (.442) and stolen bases (8).
There is still a measure of swing-and-miss when it comes to his walk-to-strikeout ratio, but he more than doubled his walk totals from 2022. In our video spotlight, we focus on the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder’s range in the outfield and improved power capability at the plate.
