The Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic welcomed Georgia Tech and Georgia to Mercedez Benz Stadium for the first time. It was launched by AMB Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE). The SEC-ACC clash is the first of many over the next couple of years in the partnership.
So how did the teams respond on a stage that featured 73,728 fans?
The bowl game atmosphere accompanied two teams fighting for college football playoff consideration. Georgia Tech (9-3, 6-2) came into the contest with two losses and would need a miracle to get in. Conversely, the Bulldogs (11-1, 9-1) were playing in the SEC Championship a week later.
Those facts did not stop either team from playing with unmistakable intensity and attitude. The Bulldogs came out on top with a 16-9 victory, but the game’s temperature cleared the 100-degree mark.

The Yellow Jackets were gashed on the ground by a stout Georgia offensive line. Led by second-team All-SEC center Drew Bobo (prior to leaving the game with a foot injury), the Bulldogs consistently pushed around the Yellow Jackets.
Want proof?
In the first half, each of the Bulldogs four offensive drives lasted at least eight plays. Those drives gained over 200 yards of total offense.
In the second half? That same offensive unit combined to net just 57 yards.
Bobo did not play in the second half.
Georgia Tech’s offense trudged along at a snail-like pace. In fact, they averaged just three yards per carry for the entire game.
So which players stood out in the Bulldogs seven-point victory? We review many of those in our photo gallery recap.
