Ravens first-rounder Wiggins following Terrell’s path to NFL
1 min readClemson’s Nate Wiggins became the latest Tigers cornerback to go in the first round. The Baltimore Ravens selected Wiggins with the 30th overall pick in the first round of Thursday night’s draft. Back in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons took former Tiger A.J. Terrell with the 16th overall pick in the first round.
Like Terrell, Wiggins built his reputation with solid work in man coverage. Many franchises could be clamoring for the 4.28 sprinter in this year’s draft due to that and a propensity for the big play. Of his three career interceptions, Wiggins returned two for touchdowns. This included a 98-yard touchdown interception return of UNC’s Drake Maye in the 2022 ACC Championship game. That play essentially put the contest out of reach. Despite inconsistent technique, Wiggins’ short memory provides the perfect temperament for the cornerback spot.
We spotlight Wiggins in two of his contests versus Georgia Tech in 2022 and Miami (Fla.) in 2023.
