Powell leads impressive LB group for Rutgers
1 min readJunior linebacker Tyreem Powell has gotten off to a fast start this season for Rutgers. Recruited as an athlete out of Vineland High School (N.J.), the high school wide receiver has grown into a 6-foot-5, 240-pound linebacker. Last weekend against Michigan, he posted eight tackles, a quarterback sack, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. Powell also had back-to-back double-digit tackle efforts versus Temple and Virginia Tech.

Not to be outdone, fellow linebacker Deion Jennings posted eight stops versus Michigan and added a pass breakup. They are joined by Mohamed Toure, who started the season with six tackles, a quarterback sack and one-and-a-half tackles for losses versus Northwestern.
