The Detroit Tigers took Alabama’s Jim Jarvis -one of the better defensive shortstops in the 2023 MLB Draft- with the 320th overall pick of the 11th round. Jarvis, who comes from a family of professional baseball players, earned All-SEC defensive honors in 2023.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound California native also finished his career with 10 triples and a .965 fielding percentage. Jarvis made the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive years while playing for the ‘Tide.
Along with his father, Chip, who played football at San Diego, Jarvis has had two brothers, Mike (2021 MLB Draft, 6th round, Pittsburgh Pirates) and Luke (2019 MLB Draft, 25th round, Miami Marlins), drafted into professional baseball.
