Texas A&M's Trevor Werner (No. 28 pictured), a fourth-year junior, hit a career-high 14 home runs in 2023. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him 199th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft.
After starting off as a pitcher for the Texas A&M Aggies, third baseman Trevor Werner settled in nicely on the hot corner in 2023. He committed just five errors and compiled a respectable .961 fielding percentage. Along the way, he set career-highs in assists (95) and put outs (27). The Kansas City Royals took Werner 199th overall in the seventh round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Werner runs the bases well (12 steals this past season) and became much better at pitch selection as a senior. His .953 OPS also served as a career-best mark and his 29 extra base hits doubled his total from 2022.
For the first time in his career, Werner was able to stay healthy after missing chunks of every season on campus entering the year.
