Seventh-rounder Fontenelle’s flexibility offers options for Angels
1 min readCole Fontenelle (6’3, 210) allowed TCU’s infielders more latitude when throwing the ball to first base. The athletic former Horned Frog was taken 204th overall (7th Round) of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels in large part due to his flexibility. The Skyline High School (Wash.) graduate started games at third base, first base, left field and designated hitter in the Big 12.
The second-team All-Big 12 selection played at Washington before moving on to McLennan Community College, where he earned junior college All-American mention. In 2023, he went viral on the Big 12, batting a sizzling .352 with 21 doubles, 14 home runs, 58 RBIs, 45 walks and 1.112 OPS.
