Braylen Wimmer came back to the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2022-23 hoping to improve his draft stock from a season ago, when we featured him as an 18th-round draft pick. A year later, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound infielder went 13-of-14 on stolen base attempts, batted over .300 (.304) and belted 14 home runs. As a result, the Colorado Rockies selected him with the 232nd overall pick in the eighth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
Overall, Wimmer finished his stint at South Carolina with 32 homers and drew a career-high 30 walks in 2022-23. The former Yukon High School (Okla.) product registered 126 assists in 56 starts this past season.
